I have developed a lot of skills at MDA and LUC. Each institution has turned me into the professional I am today. The experiences gained at these institutions have driven me to continue working closely with people, the community and companies/businesses that strive to help others. As an undergraduate student, I studied abroad in Costa Rica, China, and Taiwan. I wanted to build on these experiences as a graduate student at LUC, I was able to study abroad in Vietnam and Italy. The courses I took have fostered a caring mindset in helping students better understand their leadership skills, analyze different pedagogies, practice more social justice, create safe spaces, and given me the fundamentals on how to help them use their education as a beacon for change. I hope to merge my work experience and education to not only help people in the greater Chicago area but to reach out to the Latino, Disabled, LGBTQIA and other underserved communities. My goal is to help and impact the lives of as many individuals as possible. I currently also volunteer for both Cure SMA and Thumbuddy Special, two organizations that help people with disabilities. I love advocating for those who may not always have a voice. If I can inspire my patients/students and get them to live their truths and use their skills for the greater good while practicing social justice, I will have considered myself the most accomplished educator out there.
